Super Bowl Thoughts: Poor Archie Manning
By AJ - February 6, 2010 | Email the author

Two days till the big game.  TWO DAYS!  And there is a lot to do before Sunday.  I have to figure out the food, the spread, and collect the bets.  But I guess all that can wait ’til the last minute.  I have to make my picks!………..Actually, I may wait on that too.  It’s the Super Bowl for god sakes.  If I want to make a statement about such an important event, I better be in top mental form.

If I’ve read the line correctly, the Colts are a 4.5 point favorite over the Saints; but what does that mean?  It means that people are expecting a close game but not a nail biter; oh and also a Colts victory.  I’m going to agree with the line……at least for now.  I’m leaning towards a Colts victory (don’t bet against Peyton Manning) and I don’t think it’s going to come down to any less than five points.  The only way I see the game coming down to a field goal is if Matt Stover is hurt with a freak media day accident and Adam Vinatieri gets the start.  As strange and repetitive as that would be, I’m not expecting it.

I’m not sure there is anyone getting more media coverage this week than Archie Manning (it’s giving Brett Favre a nice break.)  Poor Archie has to root against his team, which I’m not sure I could do for my son (unless maybe my son was Peyton Manning.)  Papa Manning had a tough call to make in which team he was going to root for and I’m hoping New Orleans fans understand.  Meanwhile, the media will not shut up about it.  It’s going to be a long week for the Manning family.
