2008 MLB Preview Mid-Point Discussion
By Thomas Daniels - March 26, 2008 | Email the author

Have you been reading Tailgate Crasher’s MLB Preview for the last three days? Have you been angry that comments have been closed? Here’s your chance to tell everyone how wrong they are.

Everyone’s favorite music contributor and A’s fan has the west coast covered with his AL West and NL West previews.

Tailgate Crasher’s baseball guy has covered the central divisions with previews of the AL Central and NL Central.

I myself have covered the NL East and AL East.

Also, in case you missed it, the three of us along with old contributor Mike Hulse and PTP buy Chad Jorgenson have been addressing 25 Questions Until Opening Day. We’re through the first 15 questions in Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Agree? Disagree? Here’s the place to tell us.

  1. I’ll gladly get this started by calling out Daniels for his “over” on the Yankees for 94.5 wins. I just don’t see it. Same team as last year that lost over 1,000 player days to injury in ‘07 and this already old team is just another year older and even more susceptible to injury. I call mid-80s in wins for them.

  2. I’m in the same boat about the Yankees. Add in that they are going to move Joba to the rotation in the middle of the season; that’s an injury waiting to happen.

  3. I think you’ll be right next year. I just think this year they’re going to come out of camp a lot better this year and they’re not going to have the same injuries as last year.

Two years running they’ve been a 90 win team after starting like 1-30.

  4. I think you guys are dead wrong about the Yankees. First off, how exactly is this the same team? Hughes, Kennedy, and Joba for a full year don’t count? That’s a large portion of the starting rotation (and in Joba’s case, both) that will be different. The bench is much, much stronger than it was to start the year. I don’t have the numbers in front of me but the Yankees may have been the best team in baseball the second half, and this years team looks a lot more like the second half team than the first half team that played poorly.

  5. Jesus, I should’ve waited until the end of the week to say something. TWO guys have the Astros making the postseason this year?! TWO?! The Astros?! I’m all out of indignant “?!” punctuation.

  6. I didn’t pick the Astros – I don’t know where that came from. My NL WC team was the Padres.

As far as the Yankees, I don’t think they did anything to upgrade. Sure they’ll have a full season of Hughes, but I’m not sold on Kennedy. Joba is an accident waiting to happen when he jumps from the ‘pen to the rotation. I’m also not sold on Melky. Damon is on the decline. Adding Ensberg isn’t a huge upgrade.

  7. Fixed that. I must have had a brain lock while I was copy and pasting.
