Bob Hartley was fired?!

Tocchet Meets With Bettman

Rick Tocchet has met with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman in hopes of being allowed to return to the league in some type of coaching capacity.

Tocchet had previously been an assistant coach with the Coyotes before the gambling scandal was reported in February of 2006. Since then the Coyotes have been one of the worst teams in the league…coincidence?! Absolutely.

Nice Goal

Good instincts by the Kings Patrick O’Sullivan

Forsberg to play for Sweden

It was announced on October 29th that Peter Forsberg would be playing for Sweden in an upcoming International Tournament for the coveted Karjala Cup from November 8-11.

Forsberg has obviously not decided whether he will return to the NHL this season but to be quite honest there aren’t too many people missing him. Nashville won’t pay him what he wants and the Flyers and AV’s are doing just fine without him.

At this point he can just watch from the sidelines along with Selanne and Neidermeyer.

Bergeron

Thanks to the “hit” by Randy Jones, Patrice Bergeron will be out of action for at least a month after being the latest victim of a headfirst crash to the boards. Cheapshot by Jones? Bad luck for Bergeron? The announcers in the video have got it down, its was just the combination of a lot of bad things…positioning, speed, the play as it was developing. Having said that, the two game suspension given to Jones is still a joke. Considering all the intangibles involved in the incident or not, the league still has to come down hard on ANY hit that results in this kind of damage.

There are two months to go until the Penguins take on the Sabres in the NHL’s second outdoors game from Orchard Park, NY on NBC.
